Native token refers to a cryptocurrency token that is an integral part of its parent network and that is created during the network's genesis. Through the power of smart contracts, modern cryptocurrency networks can host in theory an infinite number of tokens however each network only has one native token. Native tokens typically are used for specific functions of their parent network such as for paying gas fees or used for network governance.
